Chickens in the Laurels
CHICKENS IN THE LAURELS? Yes, it’s possible to have chickens on your property in The Laurels. But don’t just run out and buy some chicks. You first need approval to have a chicken coop in your yard. And that requires some planning on your part and approval from the LHOA ACC for your plan.
Your first step for having chickens in your yard should be sending the ACC a Request Form to Establish a Chicken Coop on Member’s Property (click on the link to the right).
The form may seem a little lengthy to read, but items A. through G. will give you information about your responsibilities for owning and caring for chickens. In the attached Addendum, you are asked to provide details about your coop, its location, etc.

Additionally you are required to have a certificate from the County of Spotsylvania
Visit the Code of Ordinance website for more information on how to obtain a certificate.
